Say Good-bye to tough stains

Removing pen or marker stains from kids' clothes can be a bit tricky, but it's often possible with the right approach. Here's a step-by-step guide on how to remove pen or marker stains:

Materials You'll Need:

  • Rubbing Alcohol: Isopropyl alcohol is effective for removing marker stains
  • Cotton Balls or Clean Cloth: You'll need something to apply the alcohol with.
  • Paper Towels or Clean Cloth: To blot and absorb the stain.
  • Dawn Liquid Dish Soap: Dish soap can help break down the stain.
  • Toothbrush: A soft toothbrush can help agitate the stain without damaging the fabric.

Steps:

  1. Act Quickly: The sooner you start treating the stain, the better your chances of success.
  2. Blot the Stain: Use a paper towel or clean cloth to blot as much of the marker ink as possible. Be gentle to avoid spreading the stain.
  3. Test an Inconspicuous Area: Before using any cleaning agent, test a small, hidden area of the fabric to make sure it doesn't cause color fading or damage.
  4. Place a cotton ball or cloth under the stained area to prevent the marker ink from spreading to the other side.
  5. Apply a small amount of rubbing alcohol to a clean cloth or cotton ball.
  6. Gently blot and dab the stain from the outside in. Do not rub vigorously, as it can push the ink deeper into the fabric.
  7. Repeat as Needed: Continue blotting with alcohol until you see the marker stain starting to lift. Replace the cotton ball or cloth underneath as it becomes saturated.
  8. Mix a small amount of Dawn dishwashing soap with water to create a soapy solution.
  9. Apply this solution to the stain and gently rub it with a soft toothbrush or your fingers.
  10. Rinse with cold water and repeat:

Remember, marker stains can be stubborn, and it may take several rounds of treatment to completely remove them. Additionally, always follow the care instructions on the garment's label, as certain fabrics may require special handling
